Press release

Mangaluru, July 10: St Aloysius Gonzaga School held parent-teacher meetings per class, on the following days: Pre-KG-Class II on July 4, Class VI to VIII on July 6, Class IX to XI on July 7 and Class III to V on July 8, 2022.

Rikitha Pais, pediatric counselor at Father Muller Medical College, was the resource person for the parent-teacher meetings of Pre-KG – II and Class III – V. She explained the different types of parenting and the best type of parenting that could be adopted for each age group.

She also insisted on being a role model for children rather than advice. The Resource Person for Classes VI-VIII and IX-XI PT Meetings, Dr. Supriya Hegde Aroor, Professor and Department Head of Psychiatry at Father Muller Medical College, highlighted “Parenting – An Art” with real life examples .

Parents should build confidence in their children and encourage them to compete with themselves rather than comparing themselves to their peers. She further asserted that a balance had to be found between monitoring and allowing more freedom.

The director, Fr. Melwyn Anil Lobo, presented the philosophy of the institution, the academic program, the teaching methodologies, the assessment model, the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities carried out throughout the year and the role parents in education.

He further emphasized the importance of time management and avoiding distractions which can have a negative effect on their studies. When parents and teachers work together in the best interests of the child, the child is likely to derive academic and social benefits and a sense of well-being.

The parent-teacher meetings ended with an interactive question-and-answer session between the resource person and the parents. Questions related to studies were answered by the director.
